Shout out to Karen Hao (Author of Empire of AI). Sam 'The Scam' Altman tried the same discredit move against her also...
I grew up in a town of two thousand. Everyone in the town knew my alcoholic father was abusing our entire family, especially me. Nobody did a goddamn thing. It was the 1960's. Father's were the King of the Castle. Father's were the patriarchs, the dread lords and masters, the micro version of social hierarchies. Finally, he committed suicide. Over the last 50 years my family is completely fractured. We each have done what we could to heal, with varying success. All this to say. Returning to a Tucker Carlson version of family dynamics ain't gonna do shit if you don't have access to medical care and long term employment. The two have nothing to do with each other. Also to say. Open secrets are far more prevalent and widespread than any society has ever admitted.
That Sam Altman is a proper villain. The stuff he has done is breath-taking, and not in a good way.. Megalomaniac, he does make me nervous that fella, he is the sort that would invent killer robots and brand them as home help...
the sibling dynamic angle is wild, makes you wonder how much of that early alignment research was just family dinner arguments.
Eli’s spotlight on the lack of ethics is the crux of why people won’t trust anything on offer from these ai outfits. These ai ceos are predatory
Eli: "I looked into Sam's sister" Sam: "As did I"
Jason Calacanis warned about this 6 months ago.
"Don't believe anybody." Best advice ever. Remember, there's always three sides to every story: yours, theirs, and the truth. ALWAYS question biases, motivations, and just about everything else. "But you should listen to people." Also great advice. The narrative is almost never the truth, but rarely do narratives emerge from a vacuum either. Always listen, never blindly accept without first applying an ample quantity of critical thinking.
Primary reason I know way too much about machine learning to have none of it installed, these companies can not be trusted lol.
