Description

Thanks to n8n for sponsoring this video: https://plug.dev.plug.dev/kY17OO2 Google just shipped Managed Agents in the Gemini API as part of Antigravity 2.0 — six weeks after Anthropic launched their own version. In this video, I walk through what Managed Agents actually are, the four places where the Anthropic and Google implementations diverge, and the vendor-lock-in trap most teams underestimate. Plus the Google Enterprise tier almost nobody is talking about. === KEY LINKS === Anthropic Managed Agents — engineering blog: https://www.anthropic.com/engineering/managed-agents Anthropic Managed Agents — docs: https://platform.claude.com/docs/en/managed-agents/overview Google Managed Agents — launch announcement: https://blog.google/innovation-and-ai/technology/developers-tools/managed-agents-gemini-api/ Google Antigravity Agent — Gemini API docs (consumer version): https://ai.google.dev/gemini-api/docs/antigravity-agent Google Managed Agents — Enterprise Agent Platform (the version with MCP + OAuth + Memory Bank, private preview): https://docs.cloud.google.com/gemini-enterprise-agent-platform/build/managed-agents My voice to text App: whryte.com Website: https://engineerprompt.ai/ RAG Beyond Basics Course: https://prompt-s-site.thinkific.com/courses/rag Signup for Newsletter, localgpt: https://tally.so/r/3y9bb0 Let's Connect: 🦾 Discord: https://discord.com/invite/t4eYQRUcXB ☕ Buy me a Coffee: https://ko-fi.com/promptengineering |🔴 Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/PromptEngineering 💼Consulting: https://calendly.com/engineerprompt/consulting-call 📧 Business Contact: [email protected] Become Member: http://tinyurl.com/y5h28s6h 💻 Pre-configured localGPT VM: https://bit.ly/localGPT (use Code: PromptEngineering for 50% off). Signup for Newsletter, localgpt: https://tally.so/r/3y9bb0 I break down why managed agents will be a major trend in 2026 and what they solve: long-running agent loops that need sandboxes, persistent state, context management, credentials, and failure recovery. I explain the managed-agent runtime idea (model/brain, tools/hands, and a durable session log) and why providers are absorbing the orchestration layer. Then I compare Anthropic’s deeper, multi-resource API (versioned agents, environments, sessions, typed event streams, interruptions) with Google’s simpler single-call approach in Gemini API, plus differences in tools, MCP support, OAuth vaults, memory features, and pricing. I also cover Google’s separate Gemini Enterprise Agent platform (private preview) that adds MCP, auth manager, memory bank, and skills. Finally, I discuss tradeoffs like vendor lock-in, model behavior drift, and preview limitations. 00:00 Managed Agents Trend 01:04 What Managed Agents Are 02:19 Brain Hands Session Model 03:54 Real World Pain Points 07:05 Sponsor n8n MCP Demo 10:27 Anthropic vs Google APIs 12:15 Tools Memory And Extras 14:22 Runtime Hosting And Pricing 17:08 Depth vs Simplicity Bets 19:16 Cost Speed And Value 21:42 Vendor Lock In And Drift

Honestly long horizon only benefits their wallet as per token consumption skyrocket. Reliability requires yet to enforce short defined tasks. You should mention here the Microsoft Research Delegate 52 paper about document corruption which adds the critical POV, that even Sota models are unreliable on long horizons.

I am not sure I am getting this right. The Google interactions API can create custom agents and via code_execution can also call any Google ADK class and function so it can actually do much more than what Anthropic can do. So it is hard to make sense of this video.

I just use Codex as the orchestrator/planner/adversarial reviewer and have it use Claude Code via CLI for all implements and run that as a continuous long running loop all bundled as a codex skill. Each slice uses a new CLI call and clean context window. Last run was 29 hours and it’s worked flawlessly. You don’t need extra frameworks and stuff anymore.

After using Antigravity briefly. Something I REALLY like is commenting on the implementation plans in text editor like form to make changes. Is there a pluggin and/or skill that could/does reproduce the feature elsewhere. I have Opencode Go and Gemini Pro subscriptions.

I don't see how these tools implement the deterministic elements of a workflow. I shall plow on with my own system, or use Archon.

My experience with their Gemini Enterprise agents is very so so... I hope it can make the things better.
