When I met my Russian wife I found out that her grandparents were Nuclear engineers, her uncle was a nuclear engineer for the Russian Navy, her grandmother's sister was a doctor, and her dad is an electrical engineer that works with turbines. Coming from the UK I had never met nuclear engineers before or an electrical engineer to be honest, I've had appointments with doctors but never sat down and had dinner with one, her other relatives are connected to classical music in St Petersburg, her aunt was the director of music of the St Petersburg philharmonic orchestra in the Mariinsky theater, one of her uncles is actually in the orchestra they are like a family of geniuses compared to my English working class upbringing. And they would be considered an average family from the middle class.

The Defeat of the West is one of the best books of our era. If you want to understand the nonsense of our world, Todd's book is a great startup.

Kudos to you Glenn for having Emmanuel Todd on your program. He is among the greatest historians and social theorists of our times! We will learn allot from him, I’m very grateful to you for reaching out to him.
