Now it still blows my mind that in 2019, we got IT Chapter Two and Doctor Sleep as well. I never thought we’d get a sequel to the shining. Thats arguably Kings most famous book and in my opinion its one of the greatest films of all time. King mentioned the prospect of a sequel in 2009 and launched a vote for what he should write next. The choices were Doctor Sleep or a new Dark Tower Book with sleep winning by only about 50 votes. Don’t let them ever say voting never works, kids! So he got to work and began crafting what seemed like an impossible sequel. I actually spoke to Jared Bauer who has a great take on why this was seen as such an impossible thing to attempt.
