It's me MT and welcome back to the heavy spoiler show! This is going to be a breakdown for Disney's 1982 sci-fi classic Tron starring Jeff Bridges. So let's make like Flynn and jump into this program! Tron was written and directed by Steven Lisberger and released by Disney on July 9, 1982. The movie would end up making $50 million dollars globally on a budget of $17 million. And while those numbers aren’t terrible whatsoever, they would still prove disappointing to Disney as a company. However, those who did see the film loved how it transported them into a beautifully backlit cybernetic world that they’ve beyond anything that they’ve seen before. The 55th Academy Awards would acknowledge Tron with Best Costume Design and Best Sound nominations…but would end up losing to “Gandhi” for Costumes and “ET: The Extraterrestrial” for Sound. This movie would have probably won an Oscar for special effects if it wasn't disqualified from doing so. Apparently back in the day, they only really acknowledged special effects that were done practically, figuring that the use of computers to help enhance a movie's look was considered cheating and not actual art. Oh how times have changed! Now Hollywood is trying to replace all actors with computer generated AI mother effers.

I find it amazing how movies that are not wholly well received at release can still be considered by many as a classic of movie history, that's how this movie feels to me, awesome breakdown MT.

I totally agree with Bruce Boxleitner about the deleted scene it feels out of place

I can’t wait for the legacy breakdown to drop out of the members only. It’s one of my favorite movies and I’m so disappointed they didn’t continue the story. Such a shame, especially since this movie is bombing so hard.

OMG I remember playing the TRON at our local amusement center. I got so freaking good at it. Every part I anticipated and reacted swiftly, setting high scores. I was barely of age to drive
