This is my favorite movie breakdown channel. There are many others like it, but this one is mine.
Between this, Full Metal Panic and Full Metal Alchemist, I absolutely do not understand what the trilogy is trying to say
Personally, I feel that a movie containing its own sequel as the second half, is a concept that should be experimented with more often in cinema.
Dude went all in on this one. Kubrick movies are rollercoasters, u can dig deep for years, and still find some new interpretation.
During the shooting range scene when Leonard is being complimented by Hartman, you can see him sneaking the extra rounds he will later use to end them both.
9:47 As a kid I honestly thought the whole movie was them in boot camp. I was shocked when I watched the whole thing for the first time.
What makes this film even more unique is that it features No scenes in the jungle… that’s unheard of for a Vietnam movie.
The bit about your body being military property is no joke. A buddy of mine got a bad sunburn which led to sun-poisoning and a few days at a rear aid station, while deployed to Iraq in the early 2000's. Got his pay docked for "Destruction of military property".
I saw this movie for the first time on my first tour in Afghanistan. We watched it at least once a week and was often quoted.
The fact that a lot of people don’t remember the end of the movie is really a testament to how incredible the first half of this film is
