Oh this is a real treat, back when the history channel was good
Thank you. This was educational. The demise of the history channel was one of the main reasons I quit cable TV many years ago. Filling a boat with dead gators is not history.
THIS is what made History channel great. Before the dark times. Before the Alien Pyramids.
This is among The History Channel's best episodes.

I'm trying to quit drinking. When watching this I wonder how people developed this country without drinking. Answer: They didn't.
Growing up in northern Minnesota, the farm was less than a 1/4 mile from the track that ran east and west along hwy 2. Laying awake at night, I'd hear the long lonesome sound of the train's horn as it approached the crossing, and I'd dream of the miles the train traveled finally to succumb to sleep. This video brought back these long forgotten memories of childhood dreams.
My grandad came home from the Pacific in WW2 decorated veteran. He spent 36 years on The Rock Island till it went bankrupt. Got a pension. Hired on with the Katy from Oklahoma to South Texas. Earned another pension. Being a railroad man was special in America. Sad it is taken for granted and overlooked now .
History’s Channel Golden Era
It's insane how enjoyable something like the history of railroads can be when presented right. Bring this show back History Channel
