Well actually, Akrotiri was a satellite town of Minoan Crete, which also fell at the time of the Santorini/Thera eruption. A few of the frescoes shown in this documentary are actually from the Minoan palace of Knossos on Crete itself. If Plato's description of the capital city of Atlantis, the base of the ocean-going Atlantean empire, is to be used to locate the lost city, the clues cannot be cherry-picked to force the account to correspond to one location or another. The clue of "beyond the Gates of Hercules" must be taken as a real indicator, rather than discounted. Also, Plato wrote that there were elephants on city's island landmass, & no evidence of elephants on either Santorini or Crete has ever been discovered. Too, Atlantean metallurgists produced a silvery composite metal called orichalcum, which they made such things as weapons & jewelry out of, which was not produced by any other culture, & which has not been found on Santorini nor Crete either. Plato also stated that on the island of Atlantis, there were high mountains to the city's north, & a broad, fertile plain to its south. Neither Santorini nor Crete show any evidence of such geologic land formations. And then, there's the issue of Atlantis' date of destruction as Plato records it, imparted to Plato's historic relative Solon, when he visited Egypt & heard the story of Atlantis from Egyptian priests. Plato wrote that the destruction of Atlantis occurred approximately 9000 yrs. before his time, about 11,000 yrs. before the 21st century now; whereas Santorini/Thera erupted approximately 3000-3500 yrs. ago from the present. Using all of Plato's information, Santorini cannot be the island of Atlantis.

Doubtful that this is Atlantis , the Richat structure matches it far better, because of the time lines. Archaeologists always get it wrong because Atlantis is so much older and they refuse to acknowledge that.

Also, he said there were 2 rings of water, a center island a middle ring of land and an outer ring. I don’t believe Santorini is Atlantis. The mural of the people look like the Minoans.

At the beginning of the show, it said Atlantis disappeared 3,600 years ago. It was more like 11,600 years ago.

Except on Google Earth, they have NOW blurred out the area around Cuba which once showed a few pyramids and square and rectangle buildings 2,000 feet under water
