EV Data Challenges vs. Conventional Cars and Launch of AI Metabolic Health App

Discover surprising data showing hybrids outperform EVs in lifetime CO2 and critical autonomy issues when analyzing vehicle manufacturing and usage across 200,000 miles. Learn how new AI tools integrate 14 years of research to attack the crucial psychological barriers to weight loss.

Short Summary

  • Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) sales face a significant early 2025 slowdown outside heavily subsidized markets like China.
  • Hybrids demonstrate superior performance by offering lower total lifecycle CO2 emissions compared to BEVs.
  • EVs introduce serious long-term autonomy risks by locking consumers into potentially volatile electrical grid pricing structures.
  • A new AI-powered app centralizes extensive research, focusing on integrating psychological resilience training with metabolic health guidance.

Ivor Cumins joins Eddie Hobbs on Counterpoint to rigorously analyze the electric vehicle market and comparative environmental/usage stats against conventional and hybrid vehicles. The discussion emphasizes unexpected findings regarding weight, emissions debt, and operational flexibility. The conversation then transitions into a detailed promotion of a new digital health tool designed to facilitate sustained weight loss by prioritizing mental fortitude alongside dietary science.

We have yet to demonstrate that atmospheric carbon is a bad thing. We just started out with that assumption and went from there.

They don't want you driving too far anyway. Remember your 15 minute cities.

I heard it said that by 2030 95% of cars on the road will be electric. The other 5% will have made it home 😂

I've been in the motoring trade for over 25 years, diesel and petrol engines have been getting sabotaged with, DPF exhaust nonsense, they fill the engine full of carbon, the pistons get glazed and lose compression, the fuel has been tampered with, plus the parts are very low quality, it's all been part to bring in a new kind of reality, hybrid cars are overpriced but so is fuel, so we don't get an actual fact on the data, another great interview to get people thinking, ps take all tax off refined fuel and the combustion engine vehicle wins by a country mile.

I'm an old, stubborn, gloriously bullheaded combustion-engine romantic with a 5.7-liter truck parked in the driveway. 😄 No bullshit, no “but the energy transition…”, just pure: “Here’s my truck, here’s my middle finger to Brussels, and now let me enjoy that V8 growl in peace.” I got an LPG gas option and the funny thing: my truck is now climate neutral, since von der Leyen and her commission says so. This is, when I realized it is all about selling indulgences and double standards. And if someone ever comes to take my truck away: swallow the keys, lock the fuel cap, and we’ll see what happens next. From my cold dead hands!

What happens to the stats when you factor in so many EV charging stations have huge diesel generators powering them?

The EU put a document out on pollution and hidden at the end said they made a mistake banning diesels from city centres, they thought people would buy electric cars but they didn’t they bought big petrol cars and the pollution actually went up.

Geoff buys cars is great, been watching him for a while now. He does a good interview with Mike Yeadon also a petrolhead.

There's a lot of bad Ev's out there, but I recently bought a second hand Tesla model 3, not for the enviroment but just because its an amazing car. Very few maintenance costs, and not much to go wrong unlike ICE and Hybrids. But no-one should be forced either way 👍
