As a lifetime amateur and pro musician he really resonated with me as well. His book re-inspired me and helped me to see that the 6-figure corporate job I had was choking off the artist, due to the hours it consumed each week, and making me miserable. I'm no longer in that position and even though music is only about 20% of my income I'm happier than ever when I wake up each morning, even with the 50% pay cut. Thanks you for that. I was a collision tech for 5 years and I was thrilled when Covid killed my job. When I got to work again it was shopping for strangers at Walmart. But I'm happy to say i left that a year ago and while I'm listening to this episode, I'm at the hot rod shop I'm working at, welding new parts to a 71 Blazer. Before that was a 68 mustang and before that a 55 Chevy. So I resonate strongly with this episode. I make less and I struggle to pay the mortgage but I wouldn't go back for triple the money.

Man, Steven Pressfield has wrote some absolutely incredible historical fiction. For anyone looking for some of the most realistic storytelling surrounding Thermopylae ever you have to read Gates of Fire. No joke, I read most of the book on a flight to Las Vegas and the memories I have from reading that book in those arriving and departing flights are more vivid than any of the random things I did in Vegas. This video should have thousands more views, criminal. I keep meaning to write Steven a real letter thanking him for his work, especially Gates of Fire, but I suppose this will have to do for now.

Pressfield inspired Joe Rogan to be at his best in this episode. So great and inspiring dialogue from both. And great listeners too. The War of Art by the way, one of few books that were still challenging my thoughts and my inner dialogue for many days after.
