I’ve been involved in a number of cults both as a leader and a follower. You have more fun as a follower, but you make more money as a leader. - Creed Bratton
A lot of people that get sucked into cults are just looking for structure in their lives. If you want kids to not join cults, give them structure, give their lives meaning and purpose so they don’t look to idiots to find it.
Feeling Needed... is probably the key point here of what draws people into anything. People want to somehow feel they belong and that they matter.
That last reflection was so on point in relation to today's society and all the isolation problems that we have.
This is why I love sociology, it’s so incredibly interesting to try and understand our own species.
This guy is genuinely interesting. Rogan should bring dudes like these more often.
I feel like if I didn’t have my family’s support that I might’ve ended up joining a cult. Most of my life I’ve felt alone and unneeded. I’m trying to work on that now though and better myself.
This is the best summary of human behavior, mistakes and solution right there. I love it
