This video essay analyzes the morality of Ray Shoesmith from Mr Inbetween (owned by FX). Ray Shoesmith is one of the most complex characters in television, as he does bad things, but often makes up for it in different ways. He is a good guy in his private life, but a criminal in his work life. But over the course of three seasons of Mr Inbetween, it becomes clear that sometimes you need bad people to do good things. Someone with Ray's moral code is beneficial in these organisations as he keeps people's worst impulses in check. But can Ray Shoesmith be redeemed?
