Man Drugs and Strangles Husband Before Staging His Murder

Timothy Smith, 59, a well-liked executive at an Ocala, Florida, assisted living facility, was found dead in a second apartment the couple maintained on March 25, 2023. His husband, Herbert Swilley, had drugged him with roughly 30 times the therapeutic dose of diphenhydramine, strangled him with a ligature that fractured his cervical spine, then moved his body to the apartment and staged the scene to look like a sexual encounter gone wrong.
