Rich Kid Beat Mom to Death Then Cried for His ‘Mama’: Police

A 20-year-old Connecticut man, Sebastian Van Stockum, is accused of brutally killing his mother, 55-year-old Laura Williams, outside their $1.9 million home in upscale New Canaan. Police say Van Stockum called 911 himself, admitting to using a hammer, knife, and his fists in the attack, and was later heard saying he “deserved to suffer.” In court, the former forensics student showed little emotion as prosecutors described the grisly crime that has shocked one of Connecticut’s wealthiest and safest communities.
