Description

Loyola Marymount University professor and author Vanessa Diaz joins Court Accountability Action’s MacKenZie Rumage to continue their conversation about Bad Bunny’s landmark Super Bowl halftime show, which showcased subtle—and not-so-subtle—messages of unity, Puerto Rican statehood, and what it means to be American. Vanessa and MacKenZie break down the potent symbolism in the halftime show, how the issue of Puerto Rican statehood—and Bad Bunny’s stance—have become more relevant in recent years, and the conservative backlash to the show. Somewhat unrelated, but could you imagine an NFL team that all understood Spanish? My cousins learned four languages before college.

Loved the half time show and the message it shared with the world. The America’s are only as strong as our diversity.

I'm 78 and found this conversation to be so refreshing and well spoken. The NFL is in fact big business as are its franchises. Thank you.

You should rename this blog "The reason you enjoyed Bad Bunny's Halftime show, and didn't know why."

I'm a senior and as for as many years I can remember, the USA was a melting pot. Do it our way and blend in. Canada on the other hand has celebrated diversity and it's added to our culture. We still have laws and they must be respected.
