Trump SCRAMBLES His FBI after DEVASTATING LEAK!!!

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian cover the subpoenas served on four New York Times reporters after the paper reported that Trump's Qatari-donated Air Force One lacks the anti-missile defense systems of the old plane. Trump was described as "enraged" and "embarrassed" after leaving the NATO summit in Turkey on the old aircraft. He summoned FBI Director Kash Patel to the White House on Friday, where Patel spent roughly eight hours running the leak investigation from the West Wing rather than FBI headquarters, a major departure from decades of practice meant to insulate criminal investigations from political direction. Patel scrapped a planned trip to Chicago. Grand jury subpoenas were delivered to the homes of Julian Barnes, Eric Lipton, Tyler Pager, and Eric Schmitt late Friday night, ordering testimony in Manhattan on Wednesday. The Times's top attorney David McCraw said the appearance of "federal law enforcement agents on the doorstep of news reporters should shock the conscience of any American who believes in the Constitution." Brian and Shant note the reporters aren't the targets, the sources are, but the chilling effect is the point. Under Branzburg v. Hayes, reporters have qualified privilege to protect sources, and the Times says it will fight. Brian predicts the subpoenas get quashed and the investigation quietly disappears.
