I am so sorry that we have to defend /explain the ongoing need to fight racism. Maybe we need more psychological education about how this works and will continue even in the best conditions -- which have largely not been achieved any where in this country. We are not and will not be 'over it,' and therefore need to instantiate protections from the worst that is in us -- always.

Its absolutely crazy that they claim that racism is over in the US. Racism is not a once and done thing. Racism is a demon that gets periodically awakened, particularly when peoples feels angry. More often than not, the source of instability in society lies with the elite, but they are quick to use those who are different as scapegoats. They are removing those protection precisely at the moment when they are most needed.
