Trump DOJ REBUKED as Jury Delivers HUMILIATING VERDICT

Attorneys Brian Kabateck and Shant Karnikian break down the latest courtroom humiliation for Trump's prosecutors — the acquittal of Jonathan Caravello, a 38-year-old philosophy lecturer at Cal State Channel Islands, who faced up to 20 years in prison for allegedly assaulting a federal officer during a protest at a cannabis farm raid in Ventura County last July. The government's case: Caravello picked up a tear gas canister that federal agents had thrown into a crowd of protesters — including farmworkers' families and children — and threw it back. The defense's case: body camera footage showed Caravello first tried to kick the canister away, missed, then picked it up and threw it overhand over the agents' heads. No one was hurt. His attorney said he threw it as far from the crowd as possible to protect people. The trial lasted three days. The jury deliberated for about two hours. Not guilty. It's the latest in a string of losses for the U.S. Attorney's Office in Los Angeles, which has filed more than 100 protest-related assault or interference cases and has failed to win a single conviction at trial. One legal expert called it "grossly overcharged."
