The protagonist from Story 2 was incredibly frustrating at the end. There is genuine forgiveness, and then there is stupidity. Why did he throw a bone for the bullies who murdered his best friend? It doesn't matter if they didn't mean to; a life was lost. He should have absolutely told the adults the truth. Clarky was robbed of justice.
Poor Clarky deserved justice
I'm sorry but the op from story 2 not telling but thinking Clarky would be happy about that decision is so messed up.

The 2nd story, he had the chance to tell the truth and he chose not to. His best friend was murdered and he chose not to report the person who did it? That made me so mad. Clarky deserved better. RIP Clarky.
Story 2 that was murder plain and simple. And sadly childhood bullies generally tend to graduate to adult bullies.
In my opinion, some of the worst people are those who think everything leading up to outright death is OK, but be regretful after the fact, after it's too late. Those people don't deserve empathy, not when they treat the living like crap. I'm all for second chances, but if you needed something as finite as death to figure out you've gone too far, don't expect people like me to care about how it made you feel. Personally, I would've made sure everyone knew the bully was the one responsible for killing my best friend.
I really hope the Clarky one is fake because dude is one crappy friend. Seriously the guys are remorseful and he decided that it’s not fair to ruin their lives!? Your friend is dead but no worry about the killers feelings right?
