Remember when a rainy weekend was tragic because there was nothing inside to do that was nearly as fun as playing outside with your friends?

Social media destroyed it all. Even up until like 2010 things were still like this.

If you thought the 90s were great you would have loved the 70s and 80s as a kid.

Social media should be more accurately named antisocial media.

My wife and i live in a neighborhood, old neighborhood, that still feels this way. kids playing outside, bikes laying in people's front yard, the sound of kids screaming, no porch pirates, and neighbors that talk. it is really nice, and we take advantage of it while it is still here.

Born in 1970, lived on our bikes as a kid, at 10 years old could be 5 miles from home and parents didn't care, everyone was safe.

I grew up in the 1950s. We were free range kids .I climbed trees, fell out of trees (no harm done) Stepped onto ice in a swamp the ice broke, I came home with soggy shoes, Played ball and other games with my friends. TV was something we watched mostly after dinner. It truly was a different time!

I'm 35. Sadly, I'm part of the last generation of people who had a real childhood. I remember the transition period.
