I also think one of the motivations for saving or spending is due to the impacts of the pandemic. After so many people got wrecked during the pandemic, it was prudent to save so you were prepared if it happened to you. As we get further and further away from that situation, I think people are forgetting what it was like, and loosening their purse strings.
We aren't running out of money, our money is just becoming useless

Here in Australia the cost of living crisis and inflation is increasing and wages being stagted is making the majority of people living below the poverty line especially pensioner's
people believe that just because they have money means that they need to spend it.
A dollar saved will be worth 90 cents next year.
I still have cash, but all the talk is worrying so I spend less .
