If The Penguin is responsible for the death of marvel... I'm damn for it.
Marvel destroyed itself. The Penguin is just an example of what a true superhero series should look like.
It's NOT DC, it's HBO. HBO know how to make top level TV shows.
Collin Ferrel deserves an Emmy for this. His performance has a touch of Tony Soprano, and I love it!
Moon titles in a nutshell: How [Blank] (Destroyed/will destroy) [Blank] Why [Blank] is everything wrong with society
The Penguin did two things that Marvel really could learn from: It made a spinoff that is completely self contained, not bothering with making connections or shoving fan servicy easter eggs. You can completely enjoy to show without having watched The Batman. At the same time, if they choose to make Penguin the villain in Batman 2, you can pretty much enjoy the movie without having to watch the Penguin show. Also, the show isn’t afraid to let a villain be a villain, something that Marvel is somehow scared of. Every villain has to be somehow “relatable” or somehow “good inside”. Penguin is a piece of shit through and through, and it shows it to you right until the very end. Marvel would’ve have him “grow a heart” or some bullshit and buy that kid an apartment or something.
Marvel made Daredevil, gained praise for its success and said we aint ever gonna do smtg masterful like that again
So excited when the penguin (with his new status) meets Batman in the second movie
You know a villain spinoff is good when it causes us all to ignore the fact that Oz ain't even wearing the titular top hat or carrying an umbrella.
