Matt hits the nail on the head at the end; competition is the only thing keeping these companies honest. If OpenAI didn't have Anthropic breathing down their neck, we'd probably already have ads embedded directly into our chat responses. Competition wins for the consumer every time.
4:27 Thatโs exactly what Google told the world about ads in search results โ and then, little by little, they turned the entire search results page into ads.
That Anthropic ad recommending a cougar dating site to fix a relationship with your mom is the most Sam Raimi-esque horror I've seen in a tech demo. ๐
Claude is pretty good at creative writing as well.
5:40 the ads will eventually, inevitably be like what Anthropic depicted. Remember when Googleโs ads were clearly labeled?
Soonest Iโve ever been here. Thanks Matt for all the vids
about time we get an early vid. Thanks!
Really enjoyed this breakdown, especially how you didnโt just list the new models but framed the launches as part of a bigger narrative about competition and where AI momentum is heading. Seeing Claude Opus 4.6 and GPT-5.3 Codex discussed side by side like this actually helped me understand the subtle shifts in strategy between Anthropic and OpenAI โ not just feature differences, but directional philosophy. One insight that hit me was that this feels less like isolated product updates and more like an arms race in workflow intelligence. How AI starts to think with us rather than for us. Curious how you see the implications for creator tools and everyday users as these agents get more autonomous. Thanks for connecting the dots in a way thatโs actually useful for thinking, not just watching.
This has been very entertaining to watch! ๐
Youโre my AI mentor, and I watch pretty much every video. Youโre brilliant and makes me proud learning youโre in San Diego. Hopefully Iโll run into you one day to say thanks!
