I love that youβre spotlighting this as a pro AI channel. Letβs indulge responsibly people π―
Most level headed commentary I've seen on this. Thank you.
Maybe the AI companies should spend the next couple years focusing on reducing compute and energy expenditure. Make the AIs more efficient, then we won't have these other issues. We have seen huge improvements in AI and general computational efficiency in the past few years, so keep doing that.
there isn't nuance on social media for anything. it makes us easier to distract and divide.
The costs to humanity and nature are immensely negative.
These kind of videos show you're simply a good guy, not blinded by money or what ppl think. Respect
There is also an option to shift away from GPUs to neural processors as a way to reduce energy consumption. These companies really have to focus far more on R&D.
Native Memphian here and go home to visit yearly, the price jump is insane...
For the supply versus demand issue, just make the AI usage more expensive. Make it pay for itself. Smaller customers may not be able to afford to train their LLMs, but all the inferencing should be done locally anyway. Like, on your iPhone. Or iPad. Or your laptop or desktop computer. The big data centers should only be required for training, not inferencing. These local devices can do inferencing just fine. Most of them just canβt effectively do the training part.
Demand is not really that high. It feels more like an obligation than anything. I work with people within these fields and the grand majority hate having to use AI
