Here me out. What if you did a video and it was cheapest ingredients at a store and the same ingredients at the same store but then the most expensive version?
I almost forgot that Josh is both a troll and an encyclopedia.
Fun fact about Aldi, the guy who founded Aldi is brothers with the guy who founded Trader Joe's. When they took over their mother's original store together, one brother wanted to do good foods cheap, and the other wanted to do more fancy foods to make a more upscale store. They couldn't agree, so they decided to split stores to do their own thing, hence why we have Aldi and Trader Joe's now. So both brothers have now passed away, but their families still have ownership of both stores through the majority holding company.
I turned pickles into popcorn seasoning by dehydrating them with a food dehydrator and blending them in a coffee grinder, resulting in pickle powder! All the flavor of a pickle on your popcorn. I did the same thing with sauerkraut (delicious!), jalapeno's and serrano peppers, and have Thai chilies drying. I am also using the powders to mix into homemade kefir cheese. Last year I canned over 100 quarts of pickles from 2 cucumber plants, so I use (and eat) a ton of them!
I do agree with Josh and these videos are useful in showing people you can make decent food using some more bargain ingredients.
The only times I’ve made better red sauce than high end grocery it took 8hours. To quote Nicole, “I uwana”
Dollar Tree: Where You Buy Cheese So Cheap You Don't Know If It's Cheese... Or Cheese-Scented Soap
Herbs maintain their green color when you freeze dry them instead heat dry.
32:29 Ah yes, Josh felt zjierb. Also known as, "That Feeling When You Bite into a Pickle and It's a Little Squishier Than You Expected."
been working on changing my relationship to food over the past few years (as someone who grew up w an almond mom who was always either trying a new diet or shaming herself for what she was eating), and i just wanna say that mythical kitchen and Josh have been HUGE for me throughout this process !! thank y'all for all that you do 🖤🫶
