Youtube Movie Critic Made a Movie
Review of Chris Stuckman's Directorial Debut, *Shelby Oaks*
This review evaluates Chris Stuckman’s directorial debut, Shelby Oaks, mapping where its promising found-footage premise succeeds and where it collapses into generic horror tropes.
Short Summary
- The film excels during the first 35 minutes utilizing well-executed found footage techniques.
- The narrative severely weakens after the introduction of Mia, defaulting to predictable horror clichés.
- The production quality surprisingly rivals larger-budget studio horror films.
- Key plot points, especially the finale, feature illogical character decisions intended to shock the viewer.
The reviewer offers their take on Shelby Oaks, a film directed by prominent critic Chris Stuckman. The goal is to judge the movie strictly on its own merits, separating it from Stuckman's past reviewing career. Expect a detailed breakdown of the film’s structural divide: strong horror setup followed by underwhelming conventional execution.

I thought it was about Critical Drinker
“ This food made you throw up? Make a better restaurant then!”
Crazy how they didnt even consider asking the fabeled hunger games actor a chance on this movie
My response to these people is always something like “food critics aren’t chefs, they’re just really good at describing what they’re tasting and how it could improve”
Regarding the “let’s see you do better” thing, I remember hearing a stand up comedian (don’t remember who) give this example of why that argument is a load of dingo’s kidneys. It went something like: I’m not a helicopter pilot. But if I see one in a tree, I can still be like “Dude fucked up. That shouldn’t be up there.” Edit: The Comedian was Steve Hofstetter
Never thought I see Charlie talk about Chris Stuckmann but here we are.
1:23 Charlie must've forgotten about the critically acclaimed blockbuster of the century "Kickassia" starring generational talent The Nostalgia Critic
Many people probably don’t know this, but Park Chan-wook was actually a film critic before becoming a filmmaker. He once admitted that he feels embarrassed rereading some of his old reviews now that he’s on the other side making movies, which is honestly pretty hilarious 😅
stephen king directed a movie saying something along the lines of "if you want it done right, do it yourself". it flopped
I’m wondering if Chris will review his own movie and give it an A+
