My response to these people is always something like “food critics aren’t chefs, they’re just really good at describing what they’re tasting and how it could improve”

Regarding the “let’s see you do better” thing, I remember hearing a stand up comedian (don’t remember who) give this example of why that argument is a load of dingo’s kidneys.
