Everyone Forgot How Horrible This Movie Was
Assassin's Creed Movie Review: A Disaster Laced with Good Stunts
Discover why this video game adaptation inflicted lasting trauma for being criminally boring, even while showcasing surprisingly excellent action choreography.
Short Summary
- The film's greatest failure is its narrative pacing, focusing too heavily on tedious modern-day exposition in Abstergo.
- Action choreography, particularly parkour sequences and combat, faithfully captures the style of the original video games.
- Core plot elements, like the resolution involving the Apple of Eden and protagonist Cal’s character arc, fall apart under scrutiny.
This review breaks down the 2016 Assassin’s Creed movie, an adaptation deemed an insult to the property. We analyze where the high-budget film succeeded (the action) and where it failed catastrophically (everything else).

A movie being boring is pretty much the biggest sin a movie can commit
bro all they had to do was tell Altair's story verbatim, but they wanted a movie that said "hey, we wanna make sequels"
This wasn't a movie, this was 165,600 camera frames taken hostage on a reel of film.
Oh my gosh, I completely forgot they even made a live action film of Assassins Creed LMAO.
I felt so bad for Michael Fassbender. Bro is so talented.
There is no war in ba sing se, there is no tooth fairy and there is no assassins creed movie.
Genuinely- GENUINELY forgot this was ever made.
My favourite part of the Assassins Creed movie is how Spain seems to be engulfed on a sandstorm that lasted at least 500 years 😂
The borderlands movie got the same treatment this movie did: shelved into the pits of my mind never to be recalled unless summoned explicitly. They were just straight up abysmal.
I remember I watched Assassin's Creed alone because I have faith in that movie. aftermath that movie I realized, each time after a movie I always go home with feeling "I want to be Captain America", "I want to be a pirate", "I want to be a driver", but after AC I was only "yep, I'm fine being myself "
