It's way worse man. It's common for a lot of families to actually work outside of the city they live in. It seems Mr. Liu actually lived somewhere far away from his family in a super cheap rental and worked and sent all his money to his family back home who he only gets to see maybe twice a year. It's really common in China and I know many families like that myself as I live here. So he worked hard to provide for his family and his wife just threw away all the money he saved to give her and his child a decent life over an obsession to some online personality. It's absolutely wild.
