Fun fact: a bunch of Mexican film students were so offended by Emilia Perez that they decided to pull a uno reverse card on the director by making a short film based on France called “Johanne Sacrebleu” that didn’t do any research into French culture, didn’t have a single French actor and it’s just the students walking around with berets and baguettes whilst making up a gang warfare plot for 20 minutes!

I, in complete honesty, have NEVER even heard of this movie. I saw no promo, no info, no billboard, NOTHING about this movie.

As a Mexican myself, this movie is offensive. It boils our culture to only cartels. It disrespects the victims of cartel crime in our country. But the WORST part is the spanish spoken by Selena Gomez. Its pretty obvious how they used google translate to make the dialouges. This movie is one of the worst movies ive ever encountered. Its TRASH, absolute TRASH.

Maybe in another timeline, the director announced that this entire film was just a social experiment to expose how shallow and fake the Oscars are.

This movie winning oscars and golden globes is like Taco Bell winning prestigious awards for being authentic gourmet mexican cuisine.
