I was an Air Force Aircraft mechanic and reviewed a lot of aircraft crashes. Mechanically, the rapid descent after a sharp turn is likely indicative of a sudden loss of lift or an issue with flight controls. In order of what I would imagine being most likely. -pilot attempted to show off. The people on that flight were not normal people to have on the flight deck and are exactly the type of people a pilot would want to show off to. See the Elmendorf 2010 C-17 Crash -Wing Root Snapped. It's a B-52, the airframe is old. We do Isochronal and other depot level maintenance on Aircraft like this and C-5 including X-raying the frame but it's still degraded over time and human's are imperfect. See the 2012 C-130H3 Crash -Loss of Flight Controls due to mechanical defect -Pilot Error. See Dover C5 Galaxy 2006 Crash and many commercial flight losses. -Very unlikely, but with precedent. Pilot intentionally crashed.
The Kratom story brings to mind this scene from Mad Men: “Everybody else’s tobacco is poisonous. Lucky Strike is toasted.”
