Analyzing Narrative Decay: The Pitch Meetings of the Halloween Franchise

Discover the baffling narrative justifications and budget constraints driving the Halloween franchise across four decades of sequels and reboots. Learn why character logic frequently collapses under the demands of established franchise structure.

Short Summary

  • Identify major plot inconsistencies and retcons applied across the 1978 original and the subsequent trilogy reboot.
  • Note how narrative padding dictated the structure and runtime of the first film due to budget limitations.
  • Recognize recurring character motivations (or lack thereof) that undermine established history, such as Laurie Strode’s sudden shift in focus in Halloween Ends.

This document dissects the evolution of the Halloween pitch meetings from the micro-budget original to its drawn-out conclusion. Understanding these structural critiques helps illuminate how long-running horror franchises navigate continuity errors while attempting to deliver signature showdowns.

For those of you complaining about endless compilations, Ryan announced a few weeks ago that he was going to take time off to care for a sick relative. He revealed last week that his father passed away from cancer. It seems to have deeply devastated him, so please, I understand the frustration, but this isn't laziness, it's grief

This may not be the time and or place to leave a comment like this on a comedy compilation about a slasher franchise being pitched... But our hearts go out to you and your family during this time Ryan.

Watching a compilation of videos I've watched a hundred times just to make sure Ryan gets our support is super easy, barely an inconvenience ❤

Like my grandma said the night before she passed: “Everything will be okay in the end! If things aren’t okay, it just means it’s not the end.” Always loved that. I’m really sorry for your loss my friend.

Ryan, Halloween can be scary, but the scariest thing would be if your recent RL events didn't affect your output. Your subscribers, the ones who can relate, they're not going away. Take care of yourself, but most importantly, the people around you who love you. And now for a slideshow of the thing I just watched.

Hey Ryan, I don’t know if you’ll see this, but the loss of a parent is something that you expect to be able to be at least a little ready for in your life as it is expected that you outlive those that raised you. However, when it happens you realize that you were never really ready. He had to be a cool guy considering he raised someone with such creativity and sense of humor as you. Take care brother. Your fans will be here when you get back.
