After the plane crash, Hughes was badly burned and in agony from being handled in his hospital bed. He designed the first iteration of the mechanical hospital beds used around the world today.
I'm surprised more people haven't reacted to this. It's definitely one of Leo's best performances.
Howard Hughes produced the original Scarface with Paul Muni in 1932. The 1983 remake directed by Brian De Palma and starring Al Pacino was a reimagining of the original movie.
DiCaprio at the top of his game while headlining a formidable cast
When Howard Hughes was alive he was the richest man in the world. In his later life he was living in a hotel in Las Vegas. The hotel manager came to see him and told him his stay had elapsed and he had to leave. Hughes called the owner, bought the hotel, fired the manager and lived there the rest of his life.
As someone who grew up in the 70s, we knew Hughes as the crazy recluse living in a Las Vegas hotel. Thanks to Scorsese and company for bringing his story to the masses.
Blanchett's Hepburn was sooooooo spot on.....
That ending with his relapse by those men in germ proof suits foreshadows Howard's own real life fate and end.
Howard Hughes is basically who Tony Stark is modeled after. He was a mad genius with a tragic end, but a heck of an historic figure who had his hands in so many innovations.
Leo absolutely CRUSHED it with this movie. I think this deserved a Oscar more then The Revenant
