Ivy being terrified in the doorway but having complete faith in Lucius to รงome to her is one of my favorite scenes of all time. That and the porch scene are both terrific ๐
Fun fact, Bryce Dallas Howard and Judy Greer play sisters in this then later play sisters in Jurassic World.
The movie is a love story. I'll die on that hill saying it. It is criminally underrated and touches on the most primal of feelings that have existed for all time.
When Ivy sheds a single tear after Lucius says "I'll dance with you on our wedding day," it really hits me hard, every time.
A wonderful moment is when you realise that this is not a monster/horror or hardly even scary movie but one of the very best ever written, directed, filmed and especially acted, love stories
One thing I like about this movie is that it actually has two twists, so people looking for the twist figure out the first one (the monsters are actually the elders) and then stop looking so that they get blind sided by the second.
The premise of this film is so terribly sad. It is such a beautiful exploration of trauma. They build a prison of fear to hide from the pain they could not escape.
Ivy reaching for Lucius at the wedding, and him swooping in and taking her hand without a word hits me as just super romantic.
the music in this movie is unparalleled. The violin solos are so beautiful and haunting. It augments all the key moments making everything feel so much stronger.
Ivy Walker is one of my favorite characters in any film. She is brave, funny, almost fearless, kind and strong. Bryce D. Howardโs best role Iโve seen.
