Join Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey as they return to Berk in DreamWorks Animation’s epic sequel How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014). Five years after uniting Vikings and dragons, Hiccup (Jay Baruchel, Entourage, This Is the End) and Toothless discover a hidden dragon utopia ruled by the mighty alpha Cloudjumper, voiced by Djimon Hounsou (Blood Diamond, Guardians of the Galaxy). Meanwhile, fearless Astrid (America Ferrera, Ugly Betty, Onward) leads dragon patrols—until vengeful dragon hunter Drago Bludvist (voiced by Djimon Hounsou in the UK release) threatens global domination with his ruthless armada of war dragons. When Stoick the Vast (Gerard Butler, 300, Olympus Has Fallen) and Gobber (Craig Ferguson, The Late Late Show, How to Train Your Dragon) fall into peril, Hiccup must team up with lost dragon rider Valka (Cate Blanchett, Thor: Ragnarok, Blue Jasmine), whose mysterious past holds the key to Drago’s downfall. The film also features Kristen Wiig (as spunky Ruffnut), Jonah Hill (as Snotlout), and Christopher Mintz-Plasse (as Fishlegs) in standout turns. A-A-Ron & Johnald break down every soaring highlight—from the breathtaking forest rescue where Hiccup and Toothless learn to ride in perfect harmony, to the jaw-dropping final battle above Drago’s warship, and the tear-jerking midpoint reveal of Valka’s hidden sanctuary. Don’t miss their take on the film’s stunning animation, emotionally charged character arcs, and why the “Seize the Day” ensemble anthem remains one of the most searched-for moments in modern animation. #HowToTrainYourDragon2 #JayBaruchel #GerardButler #CateBlanchett #DjimonHounsou #AmericaFerrera #KristenWiig #JonahHill #DreamWorksAnimation #DragonMovie #MovieReaction #ReactionReview #AaronAlexander #JohnHumphrey #Reaction #ReactTo #Animation #AnimatedMovie #HTTYD #HTTYD2 #Dreamworks How to Train Your Dragon 3 Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/ciGIrlzUHuA How to Train Your Dragon (2010) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/XGVgelE64mU The Wild Robot (2024) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/zHtIK2mNB7k How to Train Your Dragon 2 (2014) Greg & Tara's Reaction: https://youtu.be/YwvP8bxh4fA Finding Nemo (2003) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/NvnD-yyLPAg Lilo & Sitch (2002) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/fWOM8PpdJfc 0:00 Checking In! 1:48 How to Train Your Dragon 2 Reaction 34:27 ACORNS 36:04 How to Train Your Dragon 2 Movie Reaction 51:38 HTTYD2 Initial Thoughts 56:12 Patron Q&A 1:05:50 How to Train Your Dragon 2 Review Cont'd Follow Aaron On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therealaaronalexander/?hl=en Become A Super Sexy Reject For Full-Length T.V. & Movie Reactions! https://www.patreon.com/thereelrejects Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Support The Channel By Getting Some REEL REJECTS Aparrel! https://www.rejectnationshop.com/ Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ POWERED BY @GFUEL Visit https://gfuel.ly/3wD5Ygo and use code REJECTNATION for 20% off select tubs!! "You're as beautiful as the day I lost you." That line always makes me tear up. It's so beautiful.😢

Fun Fact: Stoick’s death in How to Train Your Dragon 2 was actually suggested by Guillermo del Toro. In an early draft of the film, it was Gobber who was supposed to be killed by a brainwashed Toothless under Drago Bludvist’s control. However, when director Dean DeBlois shared his story outline with del Toro, who had enjoyed the first film, del Toro recommended killing off Stoick instead. He felt Stoick had “exhausted” his narrative role and would become a “crutch” for Hiccup as he stepped into leadership. Del Toro believed Stoick’s death would give the story far more emotional weight and significance. DeBlois agreed it was the right move as he was also struggling what to do with Stoick in the story and del Toro was later given a special “Thank You” credit in the film

What I really like is the difference between Hiccup and his mother. His mother said she "couldn't" kill a dragon, while in the first movie, Hiccup said he "wouldn't." Hiccup's answer implies that if he wanted to kill a dragon, he could. Valka's answer implies she can't physically do it. That is what makes hiccup a great leader. He can do bad things but chooses not to.

Apparently, Bludvist's alpha was behaviorally based on abused elephants. The way it's chained, how it reels back from every appriach because it learns approach equals pain, the way it moves without agency because even though it could easily kill Bludvist it has been broken to never dare disobey him. I believe it's implied this has been happening to it from birth.

RIP Stoick. One of the best movie parents I've ever seen.

They explained it in the beginning, Hiccup sets Toothless' tail to glid when he uses his wingsuit, but it's locked in glide. Toothless still has no way of bending the prosthetic himself when Hiccup is off of him. Which is why he fell when Volka snatched him up, the tail wasn't locked in place since they were flying normally.

The way the reaction becomes unsynced near the end is actually hilarious bcs aaron says "NOOO!" when toothless gets his powerup so it looks like hes rooting for the bad guy. And john giggling when hiccup and toothless get trapped in the ice lmao.

11:32 Apparently, the lack of a Scottish accent for Hiccup and friends was intended as a way to differentiate them from the older way of thinking brought forth by the previous generation.
