I like the paralel when her brother said he could only get the lion because she weakened it, and in the end she got the predator because her brother weakened it. :(
To the natives bears were the equivalent of dragons. They were seen as unstoppable beasts that fighting seemed to be suicidal. So her seeing a grizzly getting defeated like that must’ve been pure insanity to her
Fun Facts of the movie! * This predator has been named Feral, and he's thought to come from a different region of their home world. * His clan seems to prefer close combat, however Predators also choose to use weapons that make their hunt more fair for their prey. * When Taabe stabs Feral with the wolf skull, he's shouting "cheater" in Comanche because Feral didn't want to face him head to head but chose a dishonorable way to kill. * Feral's clan may have a different honor code because of this. * The dog who plays Saari, was not a trained Hollywood dog, but a rescue they used because they were the same breed Natives would have had. * the filmmakers admitted that they used every last second of Saari that they could because of what a good job they did. * The pistol that Naru is given at the end is meant to be the same one that Harrigan was given at the end of Predator 2 (which is actually a retcon of that pistol's original story). * There is a version of this movie that is almost entirely dubbed in Comanche. An awesome feat because I don't believe any of the Native American actors are actually Comanche * This movie didn't hit theaters, but audiences really wanted it to. * Though uncommon, some tribes, did have female warriors/hunters.
This is how you write a strong yet likable female lead character, Amber Midthunder did a terrific job. Also It really hurt to see her brother die as he was the mvp real talk, the primal predator was awesome as well.
The tribe in this movie are the ancestral people of Billy from the first predator movie. They drop hints when the trapper slashes. Her brother across the chest, just as Billy marks himself before fighting the Predator as well as the medicine pouch that she carries is the same pouch Billy had around his neck. He knew something was up because the story had been handed down from his people.
As a fan of the franchise, I was worried that it was out of gas after how terrible "The Predator" was, but I was so happy that "Prey" was such great return. It might be the best since the original. I'm once again excited to see where we go from here.
When she says "you bled my brother, now you bleed. You can't see, but I'm killing you", i like to think that she's not just saying it to the Frenchman, but also the predator approaching behind her
I watched this with my boss, he’s Ojibwe & I’m Taíno, you have no idea how happy it made us to see more solid Native American representation & this movie was kick ass on top of that!
The skinned Buffalo is the work of the French "expeditionaries". They killed and skinned them for two reasons: 1) For their pelts 2) To harm the Comanche. It's also meant to mirror what the Predator did to humans in past movies.
