Aaron Alexander & John Humphrey bring their hearts and scissors to the screen in this Reaction & Review of Tim Burton’s 1990 gothic fairytale classic Edward Scissorhands. Starring Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean, Sweeney Todd) in one of his most iconic roles, the film follows Edward, an unfinished artificial man with scissors for hands, as he’s discovered living alone in a dark mansion and brought into the pastel-colored suburbs by the kind-hearted Peg Boggs, played by Diane Wiest (Parenthood, The Birdcage). As Edward struggles to fit into the conformist community, he forms a tender connection with Peg’s daughter Kim, portrayed by Winona Ryder (Stranger Things, Heathers), setting the stage for a moving and tragic romance. The film also stars Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine, Argo) as Peg’s husband Bill, Anthony Michael Hall (The Breakfast Club, Weird Science) as the antagonistic Jim, Kathy Baker (Picket Fences, The Age of Adaline) as nosy neighbor Joyce, and horror legend Vincent Price (House of Wax, The Fly) in a poignant final role as Edward’s inventor. With its unforgettable visual style, Danny Elfman's haunting score, and deeply emotional themes of loneliness, creativity, and acceptance, Edward Scissorhands is one of Burton's most beloved films. Key scenes like Edward trimming hedges and dog hair, the snowy dance moment with Kim, and the heartbreaking ending in the attic have become iconic in pop culture history. #EdwardScissorhands #TimBurton #JohnnyDepp #WinonaRyder #VincentPrice #AaronAlexander #JohnHumphrey #DianeWiest #AnthonyMichaelHall #AlanArkin #GothicFairytale #DannyElfman #TimBurtonClassic #Scissorhands #MovieReaction #MovieReview #IconicCinema #1990Movies #BurtonVerse #EdwardAndKim Beetlejuice (1988) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/722mgk1yzuA Wednesday Season 1, Episode 1 Reaction: https://youtu.be/-R-MqABGVdU Alice in Wonderland (2010) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/roF3MqLi-vA The Corpse Bride (2005) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/mUiKXHAarN8 Addams Family Values (1993) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/T5_J55w3H8M Follow Aaron Alexander On Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/therealaaronalexander/ 0:00 Checking In! 2:23 Edward Scissorhands Reaction 1:09:06 Patron Q&A + Edward Scissorhands Review 2:04:07 Patron of the Day SHOUT OUT! In the beginning Edward says "I'm not finished". He was going to have hands, the scissors were just a placeholder until the hands were ready.

This film is Tim Burton’s triumph. The dissection of what is “perfect” society, only to reveal that the true darkness exists within the bubble gum, pastel colored suburbia, not the outwardly “dark” hill on the outside. So much of Burton’s upbringing in Burbank influenced this film. My wife walked down the aisle to “Ice Dance” by Elfman, and this may be my favorite film score of all time. It is peak Elfman for peak Burton, and it never fails to bring me to tears.

RIP, Vincent Price, 1911-1993. This was the legendary horror movie legend's last roles on the big screen.

There's a great Gary Oldman interview where someone asked him about a role that got away. He mentioned reading this script and thinking, "I don't get it." Then later, watching the film, when it gets to the suburbs at the beginning, he says to himself, "I get it now." The score of this movie, Danny Elfman's best! My Christmas playlists always have the finale.

The scene where Winona Ryder is dancing in the snow is just so beautiful. As much as I love his other films, I truly believe this is Tim Burton’s masterpiece. Even seeing it in theaters as a young kid I was moved by this movie so much. I must have rented it from Blockbuster a few dozen times. I still get choked up by the ending.

Tim Burton was in my class in high school. He based the neighborhood in Edward Scissorhands on 1960’s Burbank, California, where we grew up.
