This is the first of a few incredible episodes that cover serious issues. This show is one of the best I’ve ever seen at dealing with serious things. Still manages to get the jokes in and doesn’t sound preachy
Terry Crews' acting in that scene with Holt talking about his daughters was incredible.
Shows how great the writing is when they can have those very somber and serious moments while keeping the usual hilarious tone throughout the episode
Jake and Amy awkwardly trying to answer Cagney’s and Lacey’s questions about what happened to Terry was so well done. The show has to balance a serious (and important) conversation of race and police within a sitcom, a genre in which its comedic, short-lived issues are it’s bread and butter. I think they did a great job doing that, especially given with later episodes on the same topics toward the series’ end.
I absolutely love this episode, especially the conversation between Holt and Terry at Holt's home. Brilliant stuff.
This episode was so great and emotional to watch
This episode came out in 2017 so yeah it was before 2020 when bad policing really became THE topic. But of course it's been a problem and national discussion topic for years and years. They do this a few more times going forward with other tough subjects. Each one to me has the perfect balance of seriousness and comedy. Terry Crews is so good in this. And I love how even Holt has to evaluate his actions and change his response. So good. Glad y'all got back to B99. I was getting a little worried you had quit. I guess there's just been too much other stuff lately to react to and talk about.
Amy's face when one of the girls asks "What's an orgasm?" is priceless.
You don’t expect sitcoms like these to tackle serious real world issues. But since the show is about cops I feel like they tastefully represented what this experience is like without coming across as unrealistic. It also shows the perspective from the police’s side which we rarely ever see.
