Andrew Garfield's Spider-Man felt really new york compared to any other Spidey. The cop scene, the corner store scene, and when he was fighting thugs. I really loved that aspect.
It was so genuine when Peter asked Aunt May "what are you doing?" As she was passing. That's very realistic writing and it felt so real when he said that. In his mind, it's an absolute impossibility that he's experiencing this loss, it's just utter shock and a melting pot of emotions.
Did anyone else pick up on the fact that when doctor strange cast the spell he stated that everyone in the “world” would forget who Peter Parker was. And they really made it a point to state that nick fury has been “off world” for over a year. Just a thought.
I believe Murdock said they couldn't prove that Peter killed Mysterio and Happy was in trouble for having Stark tech in his house that wasn't on the books
I still think that Tobey saying "I've been stabbed before" may refer to his fight with Harry (the little Goblin Jr. fight), when Harry stabs Peter.
Lots of best scenes in this movie, but the scene with the MOST HEART was that rooftop scene: Andrew: "I lost... I lost Gwen, my um... she was my MJ, I couldn't save her. I'm never gonna be able to forgive myself for that. But I carried on, tried to um... try to keep going, try to keep being the uh, that friendly neighborhood Spider-Man, cause I know that's what she would've wanted but, at some point I just... I stopped pulling my punches... I got rageful... I got bitter. I just don't want you... to end up like... like me." Tobey: "The night Ben died, I hunted down the man who I thought did it. I wanted him dead. I got what I wanted. It didn't make it better. Took me a long time to... learn to get through that darkness." Tom: "I wanna kill him. I wanna tear him apart. I can still hear her voice through my head... even after she was hurt, she said to me that we did the right thing... she told me that with great power..." Tobey: "...comes great responsibility" Tom: "Wait, what... how do you know that?" Andrew: "Uncle Ben said it..." Tobey: "...the day he died." *Tom realizing that...* Tobey: "Maybe she didn't die for nothing, Peter." It took Uncle Ben's death to understand responsibility for Tobey. It took Gwen's death to understand responsibility for Andrew. And it took Mae's death to understand responsibility for Tom. This scene will go down in history as one of the best interactions in any movie to date and these three acted the SHIT out of this scene especially Andrew!
This movie was jaw-dropping! I loved it start to finish! Can’t wait to get it on 4K/ Blu Ray!
Best Spider-Man film ever! I love Tom Holland performance he’s my favorite Spider-Man. The nostalgia was unbelievable, I’ve seen it 3x so far.
One thing I think that made the MJ falling scene so powerful was the way it was filmed - when Andrew/Peter 3 dove off the scaffolding, the scene from there on is basically in real time. You almost get the sense of speed of something like that and when they land it’s almost like MJ and Peter 3 are still processing what the hell just happened for a second (excellent acting by Zendaya and Andrew there) and it takes us as an audience also a brief second to process how close and intense that fall was. I loved that and the intensity of the fall itself helped lead into the “I couldn’t save Gwen but at least I saved you” without being cheesy, because the fall felt real and she legitimately could’ve died.
This movie broke me. I don't usually cry watching movies, but this had me not cry quietly, but involuntary shuddering inhales everyone could hear as I sobbed and struggled to take deep breathes. It wrecked me. 🥺😭
