THE ROAD TO DOOMSDAY MARATHON BEGINS!! Greg Alba & Coy Jandreau revisit X-Men (2000) for the first time in a while, reacting to and providing commentary on the groundbreaking Marvel comic book adaptation that helped launch the modern superhero movie era. Directed by Bryan Singer, the film introduces a world where mutants—humans born with extraordinary abilities—are feared and persecuted, setting up the ideological clash between Professor Charles Xavier’s dream of peaceful coexistence and Magneto’s militant defense of mutantkind. Hugh Jackman (Logan, The Prestige) made his iconic debut as Logan / Wolverine, delivering the gruff intensity and emotional vulnerability that would define the character for decades. Patrick Stewart (Star Trek: The Next Generation, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness) plays Professor X, founder of the X-Men, while Ian McKellen (The Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit) commands the screen as Magneto, a Holocaust survivor determined to protect mutants at any cost. Anna Paquin (True Blood, The Piano) portrays Rogue, whose struggle with her uncontrollable powers provides the emotional entry point into the mutant world. The ensemble also features Famke Janssen as Jean Grey, James Marsden as Cyclops, Halle Berry as Storm, Rebecca Romijn as Mystique, and Ray Park as the scene-stealing Toad. From Wolverine’s cage fight introduction and his first explosive showdown with Sabretooth, to the Statue of Liberty climax and Magneto’s chilling mutant-conversion machine, X-Men balances character-driven drama with early-2000s superhero spectacle. The film’s themes of prejudice, identity, and belonging remain just as relevant today, laying the foundation for the entire X-Men franchise and paving the way for the MCU. Join us as we revisit the movie that changed comic book cinema forever—breaking down the performances, the iconic moments, and how well this classic still holds up. #XMen #AvengersDoomsday #Wolverine #HughJackman #ProfessorX #Magneto #MarvelMovies #ComicBookMovie #SuperheroReaction #MovieCommentary #MovieMarathon #RoadToAvengersDoomsday #React #ReactTo #Reaction #ReelRejects Fantastic Four: First Steps (2025) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/UNBKLJnA6p8 Zack Snyder's Justice League (2021) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/N0ZkKFSLhl8 WATCHMEN: The Ultimate Cut (2009) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/FEv9ReoKcRk Superman (2025) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/zvhETuN_tP0 The Batman (2022) Reaction Commentary: https://youtu.be/1T4g7AwZKNY 0:00 Checking In! 1:47 X-Men Reaction 34:39 HUEL 36:20 X-Men Movie Reaction 1:02:25 X-Men Review Follow Coy Jandreau: https://www.youtube.com/@CoyJandreau https://www.tiktok.com/@coyjandreau?lang=en https://www.instagram.com/coyjandreau/?hl=en https://twitter.com/CoyJandreau Follow Greg Alba: https://www.instagram.com/thegregalba/ https://twitter.com/thegregalba Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ RR Clips & Shorts Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ReelRejectsClips Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Head Editor: https://www.instagram.com/prapermedia Supervising Producer: https://twitter.com/nerdchronic?lang=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Co-Editor: John Humphrey Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG PLAYLISTS: Movie Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw-comtadVs8b9JsZEWHUyr8 Sketches & Short Films: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_zWuTRfBOUP3aYyIYRzc2y

A lot of people talk about how this film introduced the concept of Magneto's helmet blocking telepathy, but another important aspect introduced in the films is Rogue's real name which prior to this film had never been revealed in the comics. This film established her name being Marie, and later in the comics they established her name was Anna Marie.

Mystique's shape-shifting mid-kicking in the air will forever be iconic.

"Toad has a wicked tongue Senator, just like you. Mankind has always feared what it doesn't understand"

I love how they used camera angles to try making James Marsden appear as tall as Hugh and Famke Janssen lol

To this day, "I thought you lived at a school." is my favorite line in any X-Men movie.

It's so funny, Hugh Jackman didn't know that wolverines exist too. He studied wolf behavior and based his movements on them until Singer explained to him what a wolverine actually is.

Legion is awesome. Was odd to hear "wow, mental health" in Moon Knight when Legion had already done it sooo much better.

Legion on FX is one of my favorite shows and just pieces of media as a whole ever. Definitely recommend to go back to it.

It's funny that in every single X Men movie the villains have the best lines, Mystique's line "you know people like you were the reason I was afraid to go to school as a child" is memorable 😅
