Patrick Stewart tells the story about how he really didn't want to see Galaxy Quest because he assumed it was going to make fun of Star Trek, but Jonathan Frakes convinced him to see it. Upon watching, he realized it's actually a love letter to the franchise and he ended up loving the film.
“By Grabthar’s hammer… … … …what a reaction.”
"let's get out of here before one of those things kills Guy" Is one of my favorite lines
It always amazes me how much emotion is in the Grabthar's Hammer scene. Gets me every time. Rickman is one of the greats!
The Director shared a story about Allen and Rickman where Tim was having an emotional moment on the set, and said he'd like to go back to his trailer. This prompted Rickman to say, "I think he just experienced acting."
So a big thing with Leonard Nemoy is that he had a very complicated relationship with Star Trek as a whole, but specifically his character Spock. When he took the roll, he was a serious classically trained actor that figured the show wouldn't really go anywhere, but the steady paycheck would allow him to do more classic stage productions that didn't pay as well. When Star Trek took off, he stop getting roles because he was just known as Spock. So then he pivoted to, "ok, if I'm not going to be able to do the stage thing anymore, I'll just do this like a classic play." So when Star Trek ended for him, he really wanted to distance himself from all of it, and sort of stepped away from that world. But, in his older years, he was proud to have played a character that so many people loved and took a lot away from. I think knowing all that brings some real impressiveness to Alan Rickman's portrayal.
This was Justin Long's first thing. If you want to feel old, Long is now 47 and married to Kate Bosworth
Fun Fact: 5:43 This was Alan Rickman's reaction when he first saw himself in make-up. RIP

I was a 15-year-old die-hard Trekkie when this came out, and every single scene with Justin Long spoke to me on a spiritual level I have not experienced again since. They knocked it out of the park.
