Roxy Striar & John Humphrey react to Coraline (2009), the acclaimed stop-motion dark fantasy from Laika Studios and director Henry Selick (The Nightmare Before Christmas, James and the Giant Peach). Based on the Neil Gaiman novel, this visually stunning and hauntingly imaginative film tells the story of Coraline Jones (voiced by Dakota Fanning – War of the Worlds, The Twilight Saga), a curious young girl who discovers a secret door in her new home that leads to an eerie “Other World” — one that seems perfect at first… until its sinister truth is revealed. The film also stars Teri Hatcher (Desperate Housewives, Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman) as both Mel Jones and the chilling Other Mother, Ian McShane (Deadwood, John Wick) as the flamboyant Mr. Bobinsky, Jennifer Saunders (Absolutely Fabulous) and Dawn French (The Vicar of Dibley) as the eccentric retired actresses Miss Spink and Miss Forcible, and Keith David (The Thing, Gargoyles) as the mysterious Cat. Iconic and highly searched moments include the discovery of the tunnel to the Other World, Coraline’s button-eyed family reveal, the spider-like final showdown with the Other Mother, and the film’s mesmerizing stop-motion visuals that still captivate audiences today. A mix of gothic whimsy and childhood dread, Coraline remains a modern animated masterpiece — blending craftsmanship, atmosphere, and a chilling message about appreciation, courage, and identity. #Coraline #CoralineReaction #RoxyStriar #JohnHumphrey #ReelRejects #StopMotion #Laika #HenrySelick #NeilGaiman #CoralineMovie #AnimatedReaction #DarkFantasy #CoralineReview #ButtonEyes #CoralineOtherMother #AnimationReaction #CoralineEnding Paranorman (2012) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/2TtwAZ0UcKk The Iron Giant (1999) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/IyWsZ3NDrSY Marvel Zombies Episodes 1 - 4 Reaction: https://youtu.be/qdf-nMF5FTc Little Shop of Horrors (1886) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/3Nn0PYTGKj0 K-Pop Demon Hunters (2025) Movie Reaction: https://youtu.be/MB30DdNaqLA Follow Roxy On YouTube & Social Media: Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/roxystriar/?hl=en Twitter: https://twitter.com/roxystriar 0:00 Checking In! 1:09 Coraline Reaction 31:02 HELLO FRESH 32:35 Coraline Movie Reaction 59:26 Coraline Review Intense Suspense by Audionautix is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ RR Clips & Shorts Channel: https://www.youtube.com/@ReelRejectsClips Follow TheReelRejects On The Socials: IG: https://www.instagram.com/reelrejects/ TT: https://www.tiktok.com/@thereelrejects?lang=en TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thereelrejects FB: https://www.facebook.com/TheReelRejects/ Music Used In Ad: Hat the Jazz by Twin Musicom is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Happy Alley by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Head Editor: https://www.instagram.com/praperhq/?hl=en Supervising Producer: https://twitter.com/nerdchronic?lang=en Co-Editor: Greg Alba Co-Editor: John Humphrey Music In Video: Airport Lounge - Disco Ultralounge by Kevin MacLeod is licensed under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 license. https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/ Follow & Listen to Us Wherever You Get Your Podcasts!! - Spotify: https://open.spotify.com/show/3XHMwbveiznxSOGxN9XT0M - Google Podcasts: https://podcasts.google.com/feed/aHR0cHM6Ly9mZWVkcy5tZWdhcGhvbmUuZm0vc3Rhci13YXJzLXRhbGs - Apple Podcasts: https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/the-reel-rejects-tv-movie-recaps/id1616339990 - Audible: https://www.audible.com/pd/The-Apocalypse-Podcast/B08JJP58FG Ask Us A QUESTION On CAMEO: https://www.cameo.com/thereelrejects Follow GREG On INSTAGRAM & TWITTER: INSTAGRAM: https://www.instagram.com/thegregalba/ TWITTER: https://twitter.com/thegregalba PLAYLISTS: Trailer Reactions & Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw9ZsLdoAQFpx38s2hhyFgDe Movie Reviews: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw-comtadVs8b9JsZEWHUyr8 Sketches & Short Films: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL-bIhJVeYWw_zWuTRfBOUP3aYyIYRzc2y

I absolutely love how Coraline's parents are written in this movie. They're a realistic portrayal of what overworked parents going through a stressful time are like: they're curt and exasperated when talking with Coraline, but they still maintain a level of care and empathy for her. I think this movie is incredibly important to show to young kids, despite how many nightmares it'll give them. It tells them something very important: Your parents are people just like everyone else and, although their stress might get the better of them sometimes, they still love you.

The character’s name is “Wyborn” because he doesn’t exist in the Coraline book. He was created just for this movie.

interesting fact: When the Author went to try and get Coraline published as a book, the editor said it was too dark. The author then asked the editor to let her daughter read it and see if it really was too scary. The editor's daughter told her it wasn't, but years later admitted that it had been scary but lied t her mom because she liked it and really wanted to finish reading it.

The picture made Wybie change his mind as the doll looked nothing like Coraline when it belonged to his great-aunt as Beldam changes the doll to look whichever child she wants to lure inside.

The black, feral cat can actually talk and cross into both worlds. He’s got… friends on the other side. 😏

The reason why Coraline only has a rash on her left hand is because she used the right one to shake hands with Wybie. Wybie's gloves have dirt which the other mother said was good for Poison oak

They say The Eyes are the window to the soul, so the Belldam takes your soul closes the holes with buttons.
