For the first story, yeah, this is definitely one event that the spoiled rich kid is actually going to remember and hopefully learn from. As op is right. It's not about the money, it's about payback and revenge about getting this. Stupid idiot kid to actually think about his actions before doing anything.

I didn't give my boss 2 weeks notice, I gave them a MONTH notice. All they had do do was hire my replacement within that month. They didn't and begged me to stay for 2 more weeks, so I said OK. When the two weeks were up, they still hadn't found a replacement. I left anyway. They had to call me back in for a week to help the new guy figure everything out. They put me up in a fancy hotel and paid me a bunch of money to do it.

I got a 30d notice to the end of my contract work, along with three months of healthcare coverage AFTER my end date. They even provided classes if we needed retrained and had a person ready to help us update our resumes to make sure we’d be able to get another job easily. Hell, one person took it upon themselves to call other areas to see if they had openings that fit our job descriptions so some of us could just start the day after our end date. Good company.

S1: there are people who look for payback and no amount of money will stop them. Hope the idiot learned a lesson. Karma is and can be a beeech.

story 4: Edit: Update 5/12. The wedding was absolutely beautiful and I didn’t have to think about this all day. We’ve been living on the love high that comes with the wedding and forgot about anything until YouTube remakes reminded me. Our videographer was given verbal instructions beforehand and made sure to know who SIL was. As our sneak peek clips have been given back to us I have yet to see her in any of the footage. Our videographer told us they had over 200GB of raw footage so SIL will definitely be in some footage on a hard drive somewhere, but she definitely will not end up on any of our instagram highlights. We’ll see about the final video. I definitely didn’t think this would blow up like it did, originally I only shared this with 3 girls in book club. Thank you all for coming on this petty revenge journey with me! P.s. no idea how Reddit updates work for those who care, trying to figure out if editing the OG post is the way. Should I put my final update on a new post? Let me know, I don’t want to leave you all hanging on this.

Story two: I was written up twice and fired all on the same day. Turns out I was making too much money and the reginal needed payroll to be under a certain number to get her big bonus. I have fired people before, always for an actual reason. (Theft, insubordination, job abandonment)

I was laid off in 2024 by a large non-profit, and asked to stick around the rest of the week to train someone on how to use MY system that I CREATED for a process. I refused to HR and to my boss, and apologized for not being cooperative to the person I was supposed to train, but I was not about to train someone else on how to replace my position. Took what access that I could away and left that Tuesday (they paid the rest of the week out to keep me from making a fuss).

Quitting/firing with no notice is such a weird concept. Here there's three months notice required by law. Some contracts extend that even longer. And it's the same notice period both ways. This protects both the employees and employers. Of course it's still possible to quit or fire someone without notice, but you better have a really good reason for it.
