what gets me in the first story is how the dad didn't get his daughter a hot chocolate machine purely because _the rest of the house_ doesn't drink hot chocolate. like, "nobody else in the house would want to use your gift so no point in getting it for you." what the hell, man
That poor kid in first story. Not only the parents treat her with contempt, but they've taught her brothers to as well
Poly under duress is essentially coercive consent. It's not real consent... And IS CHEATING. But yeah, tiny nuance involved
Brother, why would you ask her what she wanted if you were just going to ignore it anyway?
I wonder why his sons agree with their dad. Maybe it's because they got to enjoy a party and barbecue at they're sister's expense on her birthday.
Forced polyamory? That’s a softening name for “I’m gonna cheat and you’ll either accept it or get out.”
The parents in the first story, in 6 or 7 years, "Hey Reddit. My 18 year old daughter has cut us out of her life entirely. Why is she being so unreasonable, we did nothing wrong."
Last story: so he abuses her then? Like everything that was describe here is textbook abuse tactics. He made her quit her job, making her have this baby she didn’t want, made her sign an agreement that only benefits him. And apparently he regularly threatened to divorce her, while reminding her that she can’t live without him. He didn’t mention isolating her from her friends and family, but it wouldn’t surprise me if he was. Even if it’s not physical, it’s definitely mental and emotional abuse.
"lost her job" bro you made her quit!
Last story: Dude gets his wife pregnant when she doesn’t want a child, forces her to quit her job, forces her to sign a postnub, CHEATS on her, blames her for looking for evidence of cheating…after he’s obviously been cheating, and then threatens divorce. And this is HIS side of the story where he tries to paint himself in a better light, I would bet her version of the story includes physical violence.
