Shawn please check back on this kid on a regular basis. He's torn up.
Getting a medal for one of the worst days in your life is a really complicated feeling.
In a world full of sh*t heads, there are still brave men out there. Thank God for Sam.
Son, as an old man. You will always see their faces, especially their eyes. You will always hear the screams. You will always ask yourself what you could have done better. And you will always ask yourself why them not me. You will always ask how and why this happened. There are many questions you will never get the answers to. Talk to your buddies, talk to your Pastor, talk to a therapist and always keep talking to someone you trust. Understand that what happened makes no sense and never will. Do your best to save you for once. After all that's the best you can do. God sees you, your pain and the sacrifice you were willing to make. It will never go away but it will get better over time. Help the people who have been there and seen that. I believe that is the best therapy. The dreams and screams will lessen over time if you let them. Trust in yourself and true friends but most of all trust in God.
The Colonels Job was to create Soldiers...if the last thing he saw was his cadets tearing into the guy who killed him in an improvised fashion, led others to safety, and rendered Aid. A Job Well Done!
Brother, please make sure this kid gets some help. I've worked long enough in mental health to recognize some serious PTSD. He's wound so tight. Thank you for your service son. I feel like you would make any father proud.
This episode has been the most compassionate and heartfelt interview I've ever seen. Sam needed this time with you. Thank you Shawn. Thank you Sam and your comrades for making this world a safer place. God Bless.
Colonel Shaw, a pilot, a professor and hero .. R.I.P❤
30:59 Col. Shah. what a man. saved everybody but himself. chills.
We CANNOT have this absolute hero carrying around a PSA Dagger like a slackjaw. Thank God Shawn got him something dependable.
