As an architect, I'd say we have to also reconsider how and where we build developments. We want to live in a suburban environment, with a 3 car garage, a large backyard, and views of the ocean without considering the risks.

Those ember-filtering vents alone is a simple yet practical and cheap tool to prevent worse from happening but people might need to consider that nature sometimes just doesn't want us around.
