If Neil was Obi Wan: “Parsec is not the unit you are looking for!” :Waves hand
In "Solo: A Star Wars Story" the writers took that criticism on board. They retroactively corrected the parsec mistake by defining it as a measure of distance, not time. In the film, Han Solo takes a dangerous, direct route through the Maelstrom, reducing the total distance of the Kessel Run to just under 12 parsecs. Good to see that science (at least is some form) was acknowledged.
I've been watching Star Talk for literally LIGHTYEARS. https://youtu.be/jNI_qEBFO7E?feature=shared
Before watching this, did you think a parsec was a unit of time or distance?
New favorite line ... I gotta go, cause its Strawberry!!! - Thanks Chuck!!!! 😂😂😂😂😂😂 👑🐻👍🏾
George Lucas: have you read the script? Harrison Ford: yes, I read it 50km every day!
When he tried to put his thumb closer to Neil lmao 😂
10:26 they went back and retconned things to make the '12 parsecs' line make sense by saying the Kessel Run goes through an area of space dense with black holes, so the ship being fast enough to fly closer to the black holes without falling in cuts the distance travelled.
I literally just got done teaching this in my astronomy class!
