I'm an old guy and the biggest disappointment about dying I have is missing out on the future and how technology will evolve. It's not just the astrophysics or robotics or medicine or space exploration or self-driving cars, it's the flowering of technology which allows for advancing our knowledge. I believe in the Star Trek future where we, on Earth, have figured out how to have a successful, peaceful civilization.
I'm really comforted that this committee exists. Like someone is keeping an eye on things in an anti-science time of lunacy.
If the Vera Rubin Observatory is making a movie of the night sky, what cosmic event would you be most excited to catch on camera (i.e. an asteroid flyby, a supernova, or something totally unexpected)? Be sure to check out Rubin Observatory's skyviewer app https://skyviewer.app/ so you can see the captured footage at full breathtaking resolution!
i had a chemistry teacher in high school who reminds me of Neil. He would take 20 min out of a class to go over new topics in science just like this, purely out of excitement and a yearning to teach people about it. The only Chemistry class i ever got an A in.
Star Talk keeps showing why science is important. Keep iup the good work.
As an unofficial enthusiast of Astrophysics, I think this has got to be THE coolest thing the public has EVER seen. There are so many opportunities for people to take advantage of here, from classroom observation, to in depth programming opportunities. The fruit of this laborious project is ripe with many findings. I hope people don't sleep on this and that they search the night sky for its many wonders. Anyway, have fun y'all!
Thank you for remaining consistent with your uploads Dr. Tyson!! ❤️🔥💯
This episode hits so hard. Thank you!
As Chilean and astronomy aficionado I'm so proud of this. I know that the invesment capital and tech is foreign but structural engineering is chilean and the clear skies also. We're justo happy to be a part of this.
Hey everyone, keep looking up 😊
