Italy's Strongest Earthquake in 10 Years Struck Directly Under a Supervolcano...

The strongest earthquake for Italy in ten years just struck outside of Naples near two of Italy's largest volcanoes, Campi Felgrei and Mt Vesuvius. At magnitude 6.0 and very deep at ~380 km, this seismic energy from this event spread out widely across all of Italy (I did not feel it here in Rome). The concern I have is how those strong seismic waves may have disturbed the extensive underground volcanic systems across the country, particularly Campi Flegrei which has been increasing exponentially with its earthquake activity, gas emissions, and uplift since 2020, with the original uptrend going back even further to 2005. The magma chamber is very close to the surface at Campi Flegrei, the caprock above it is weak and fractured, and it could easily explode out a VEI6 volcanic eruption.
