I was at founders inc for a while as an employee to one of the portfolio companies. Would like to point out a more nuanced approach. A lot of the advice is around building cool things and telling folks about it. I can see why it eventually went to "I need to be more popular in order to succeed" but I do believe the core idea is sound. For what is worth, I made a ton of friends there and the folks have been super welcoming. It can definitely feel a little like an echo chamber at times with certain beliefs, but many early stage start-up with strong culture have that too.
