I lost my jr software position. the manager said, "we're dissolving the jr engineer position because we want senior engineers using ai"

The scary part is that because it's so hard to get a job as a junior they will end having AI act as their professional mentor, while developing zero social skills along the way, which will make them less attractive.

As a junior/mid-level engineer I have to admit that my enthusiasm towards tech has definitely taken a hit in the past few years since I graduated. I used to be so enthusiastic about everything tech, and now I am just tired boss. Couldn't even imagine the anxiety current students and juniors feel.

Alternative explanation: The Fed starting raising interest rates in mid 2022 to cool inflation. This is causing a mild recession. Employers laid off juniors but kept the seniors, as is typical with layoffs. CEOs told shareholders they were using AI so they were more efficient and didn't need so many workers, but this was just a cover story to keep their share price high.

Honestly for my first development role I was carried alot by my senior. It's almost like he saw something in me and was focusing on building me personally. If only every role had such an engineer

It's tempting to make AI the scapegoat for everything, but there are people behind these decisions. We senior developers need to do more to fight for the time and space to grow young developers.

I’m a Sr. Dev. They want the Sr. Roles to do what the junior roles do. 😂

This video really hits home for me. As a newbie trying to break into tech, the decline of junior roles is super scary. I've been using Rumora to help get my brand out there, and it's made a difference in standing out.
